The Miami Festival Academy brings to life the musical passion of Luchino Visconti

On Saturday, August 19, the prestigious Miami International Piano Festival Academy will visit Grazzano Visconti Theater.

The festival, founded twenty-five years ago by Giselle Brodsky, is now one of the most celebrated musical realities overseas. Students and faculty from a variety of nations will be involved in a tribute to Luchino Visconti, the legendary filmmaker who since childhood frequently stayed at his family country residence in Grazzano Visconti.

The music that surrounded his formative years, is still heard as part of his film legacy and his work as a theater director: Verdi's Waltz heard in "Il Gattopardo" soundtrack, Wagner's themes (originals and transcribed) in the film "Ludwig", and the works of Franco Mannino, composer and conductor, who collaborated with Luchino Visconti in several films.

A series of short concerts will close the itinerary based on guided tours of the castle scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and a more formal early evening recital will be hosted in the delightful theater of Grazzano Visconti. Admission to attend the performances will be free.
