"A PIANO FESTIVAL THAT WAS
BORN TO BE CONTRARY"

The New York Times

In 2003, the great newspaper wrote about the transcendental mission that the Miami International Piano Festival was undertaking in the US cultural scene.

Today, the MIPF continues inspiring musicians through its newly released Virtual Platform, representing its mission of discovery, development, and support of the great artists of today as well as those of the future.

OUR MISSION

THE MEANING AND POWER OF the miami international piano festival academy

Our journey started in 1998. In 1999 we presented three concerts; by 2020 it had grown to twenty-six. For twenty-three years, in winters and in summers, we have offered a live platform to innumerable great pianists and talented students, all of whom find themselves today unable to express, share, or participate in their art. Teaching and performing has been taken away from them, causing great economic, emotional, and psychological uncertainty.

To maintain our core mission through the countless challenges of the present crisis require us to take actions in order to adjust to current circumstances but also to the looming consequences of the future.

The Virtual Platform of MIPFA is born upon the need of sharing our perspective on artistry and music with the world.

MIPFA PHILOSOPHY

ENLIGHTING THE NEXT GENERATION OF PIANISTS

The virtual platform of MIPFA is a stage for teaching; it is a podium for lectures and discussions; it is a showcase to exhibit skill, talent, and creativity; it is a canvas where our artists have the freedom to design the fruits of their imagination, in the shape, color or form most fitting to their individual financial and artistic needs. Overall, it comprises a pageant of, and for, music lovers.

MAINTAINING OUR CORE MISSION OF SUPPORT FOR ARTISTS IN THESE CHALLENGING TIMES

Dobbiaco, also known as Toblach, is a picturesque town in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of Italy, embraced by the breathtaking Dolomite mountains. Its cultural significance lies in its connection to classical music, notably through the influential composer Gustav Mahler. Mahler spent several summers in Dobbiaco during the early 20th century, drawing inspiration from the town's serene landscapes, and it is known that he wrote there his 9th Symphony, as well as the first movements of his unfinished 10th Symphony.

MIPFA central value is to stimulate MUSIC STUDENTS’ creativity

The virtual platform will provide access to an unequaled library of high-quality audio and video files, from historic debuts and memorable recitals to brilliant lectures and demonstrations. This impressive collection, accumulated throughout the years of our existence, is a document of our vision: the evolution of so many prodigies and young pianists into world-class performers—an inspiration for our young students to emulate.

A virtual platform for musicians requires a system of high quality sound. We are fortunate to count with a skilled team of experts who are developing this virtual platform with state-of-the-art visual and audio technology, social media, and production values. They will record and document our activities with the same professionalism displayed during the past twenty-three years.

Though we have many difficult challenges ahead, we will get through this together. We are resilient and determined to accomplish our dreams. We look forward to your participation in this exciting new initiative.

Through the MIPFA intensive encounters, musicians have the opportunity to take part in intensive private and group activities with great artists and pedagogues. They have the opportunity to participate in technique clinics, discussions with the faculty, explore the world of different composers, the challenges of performing and looking for a renewed sense of direction and inspiration. to strengthen their skills as performers.

Providing performance opportunities to our participants is at the core of our philisophy, giving them opportunities for musical development in a collaborative environment that will allow immersion with the wealth of piano literature. The Academy’s open class policy enables students to observe and learn from the insights of each artist of our faculty and to participate fully in life-changing experiences.

GISELLE
BRODSKY

FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

In the Winter 2008 edition of Piano Today Magazine, Stuart Isacoff writes: “Brodsky is an astonishing figure in the music world …. She seems to have a knack for discovering great talent…Ingrid Fliter and Piotr Aderszewski before they each won the Gilmore Award – and taking rare risks to present them to Florida audiences.”

Twenty-three years ago she envisioned an organization designed to discover, present and support exceptional talent and offer fresh and exciting programs to South Florida audiences.
