a unique oportunity to become a soloist

The Miami International Piano Festival Academy is launching its first orchestral program. Eight promising pianists will have the opportunity and the experience to work and rehearse with a professional orchestra coached by our outstanding faculty.

This orchestral experience takes place in San Marino - a magic and historical land whose borders are within Italy’s territory, as well as the oldest republics on Earth, (301 d.c)

LEARN-BY-DOING with an orchestra

For a pianist, being a soloist and performing with an orchestra is a cherished experience. This is a unique opportunity to rehearse and perform with a professional orchestra led by the renowned conductor Hobart Earle. 

Eight outstanding pianists will be selected for this program. The selection process will be done through an online audition; interested students must submit a video performance of the entire concerto, accompanied either by a second piano or an orchestra.

COACHING ACTIVITIES

The attending participants will enjoy the following pedagogical activities:

  • All accepted participants will have two 45-minute rehearsals of their concerto with the orchestra.
  • This rehearsal can include a complete run through that will be professionally recorded and handed to the participants.
  • Before and after the rehearsal, all participants will have coaching sessions with the faculty and conductor. They will also get feedback from the musicians of the orchestra.
  • All participants will attend the rehearsals of other pianists and coaching sessions and be requested to actively participate in those round tables.

REPERTOIRE TO PERFORM

Pianists will be able to perform the following concertos:

  • Any of Mozart and Beethoven piano concerto
  • Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1
  • Grieg, Mendelssohn, Haydn and Schuman's concerti
  • Liszt and Chopin's concerti
  • Rachmaninoff concertos I, II and III
  • Any of Prokofiev's concerti

PERFORMING AT THE CONCERT

Among the eight pianists who perform a full rehearsal with the orchestra and maestro Hobart Earle, only three will be selected to participate in the final concert of the program.

This selection will be made by a jury formed by the program's faculty and members of the artistic board of the MIPF.
